Term 4 Week 2

What did I enjoy this week? One thing I enjoyed this week was having Miss Lawless run the week. It was so interesting having a different teacher and doing things different for a change.
What was one success I have had and why? One success I had was my emotions wheel. It was an interesting activity to do. I worked super hard on it and it looks wonderful.
What is something that I found challenging and why? One thing I found challenging is doing the lyrics task( a task where we literally make lyrics for a song). I have pretty good idea's for a song but what makes it hard is that I have to work in a group and everyone in my group has different ideas of there own
What is one thing I have learned? One thing learned this week is how to make a Bar And Whisker Graph. It is super easy and Miss Lawless revealed to us that... creating a bar and whisker graph is what a level 5 would do which is a whole level higher than what we are supposed to do.
What is something I am looking forward to next week? Something I am looking forward to next week is doing more cool and interesting contract activities.
How have I shown the value of Aroha this week? I have shown the value of aroha this week by all round loving and caring to others and being caring to my friends.

Term 4 Week 1 Reflection

What was one think I enjoyed this week ? The thing I enjoyed most this week was training with Whaea Morganna. Yesterday Whaea Morganna came in and taught us a bit of athletics skills I had so much fun we even played a game called planes. In planes the are four corners two people go to one corner each corner and try to hit the others with who are in the centre of the four cornered square while one person calls out different movements the others have to do. If the people in the middle of the square is hit then they have to go to corner that the hitters are not in and stay there for the rest of the round.

What one success I had and why ? One success I had was in my recount narrative "The Art of a Splash War" if you want to check it out it is on my blog. I worked hard on it. It took me three days to write and in that three days I put so much effort into it.

What is something I found challenging and why ? This week I found nothing challenging  It was a smooth running week the only thing that probably was hard was that fact that this week flew by like a race car which made me work faster and made me stressed.

What is one thing I have learned this week ? One thing I have learned this is about the Māori culture. A few facts I learned is that Māori is not what Māori originally called themselves they originally called themselves Tangata Whenua meaning "People of The Land" Māori actually means "The People of Enlightenment" and was given to them by Pakeha. In fact Pakeha comes from the word Pakehakeha which were also called "People of The Mist" which came to Aoetearoa before any Māori. The Pakehakeha came out at night but sometimes they came out in light but only if there were some fog to hide them.

What is something I am looking forward to next week? Something I am looking forward to next week is learning more fact about the Maori people from Miss Lawless. I want to learn all about the people of Aotearaoa and the history of the land which I stand and live on.

How have I showed the value of pono this week? I have shown the value of pono this week is by being honest and true to myself and others.

The Arts

For this term our main focus will been on the arts. The task Whaea Danni gave us this week was fairly easy. The task was to give our own definition for each and every art on the following slide. Here is the slide.

For the activity we did a slide deck all on media here is my work. Now I have a question to ask you, what does media mean to you? tell me in the comments below.

The Art of a Splash War

This is a recount of a major event in my holiday enjoy.

On Wednesday I woke up before anyone else in my house with great reason to do so. Since the penultimate week of school my family have been planning to go out of town. The original place we were going to go was Napier. The main reason being that there was a water park there called Splash Planet.

But that was not really the reason why I woke up so early the real reason was to go to the Library. So on the first Monday of the school holidays I went to the local library to feed my latest book fixation, Des Hunt books. As I got my book I noticed a piece of paper with a black background filled with bright red rockets and little yellow stars. On it was a date, and it had two arts and craft activities. The activities were a rocket corner bookmark and a melted crayon planet. It piqued my interest. Both of them were on a Wednesday.

So on Wednesday I woke up to a cloudy and brilliant blue sky. I set out by bike to the Library where I was surprised to find out that it was only two people doing the D.I.Y. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that we would also be doing origami. After the rocket corner bookmark D.I.Y session I went home to find that my family was not even ready for the trip yet.

After forty-five minutes of getting ready, we were out of the house and on the open road. We took the Kerikeri route (the longest way) because the Mangamuka route (the shortest route) was closed due to landfalls. The scenery through the was Mangamuka was usually the best but there were still some excellent sites at state highway 10. There were cows with white skin and galaxy-like black spots grazing on green grass, mooing merrily without a care in the world.

But there was one thing that made that trip bad: my employment dilemma. The dilemma I asked myself was what I wanted to be when I grew up and what if I failed to get there. When I wasn't thinking about it I was sleeping and I was asleep more times than I was awake, lucky me.

When we got to Whangarei we immediately parked at the Whangarei Aquatic Center which was the number one thing me and my sister Evania wanted to do. I wanted to go there to go on the water slides but sadly they were closed. When we got to the pools I quickly changed and then speedily stroded to the main pool. Where I greeted the others I then put my goggles on my head  and my swim bag in a cubby. The water in the pools was a clear crystal blue. I then went to the heated kiddie pool. I had some complications with my goggles so I gave them to my dad and then hopped into the cold big kids pool then I swam to the whirlpool pool only to get punched in the face.

It happened very suddenly. I was wading through the clear blue water heading to the whirlpool pool when I reached the pool. I was then blinded by the splash of water in my eyes then I felt the heavy and powerful fist in my face. I then fell back. An 11 year old girl had punched me in the face and in defence I splashed her with water. She went ballistic and she said that you should not hurt girls and started smacking me with water and telling her siblings to do the same. So in the spirit of war I splashed them to clash with their splashing so that I would not be blinded by the water. Which obviously made her combust. She yelled at me “how dare you hit me and my young siblings who do you think you are? I am only 9 ! ” Yeah she lied about her age. She then slapped me and waded away.

Later I went to the spa pool where to my luck she and her annoying siblings were there and as soon as I got in she told me to “get the heck out” she swore at me. She was incredibly rude and of course I denied her rude request. So then they started splashing me water again then to my fortunately I heard a voice saying to them stop. They poked their tongue out at me and then swam out. The person that spoke was a boy named Aston. He and I played for the next hour or so together. Soon me and my family left. On the way to our friend's house which we were going to stay at, I had a realisation of how lucky I am to have two great parents that care for me. I then went on to have a good holiday, well mostly good because the next day I hurt both of my wrists but otherwise it was a great holiday.
